Our Team

The Bright Niños team is committed to working with each participant as a unique individual. Every professional on our team, from the clinic staff to the support staff, is focused on the participant’s success.

Our team members have experience working with youth with various diagnoses. Each staff member has been properly trained and licensed. We also do an extensive background check for all team members. Our team members also follow strict “youth protection policies,” prohibiting outside interaction or relationships with participants.

Our professional support team members include:

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA): All of our BCBAs are licensed in Minnesota, have a master’s degree in applied behavior analysis or a related field, have completed a practicum providing applied behavior analysis services, and have national certification through the Behavior Analysis Certification Board. BCBAs complete participant assessments, develop treatment plans and provide ongoing supervision to Behavior Treatment therapists and Behavior Technician staff.

Qualified Supervising Professional (QSP): The QSP must ensure their caseload size allows them to deliver services to people with a range of needs, from complex to less intensive. The QSP’s caseload size should enable them to play an active role in planning, coordinating, monitoring, training and supervising the team in order to meet the individual needs of the person and family, as specified in each person’s ITP.

Behavior Technician (BT): BTs provide direct treatment consisting of skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs under the supervision of a BCBA.

Focused ABA Treatment
Comprehensive ABA Treatment

Treatment addresses a narrow range of skill deficits and behavioral targets (e.g., challenging behavior, coping skills, and communication) and is provided for fewer hours each week (up to 20 hours per week). Treatment addresses a limited number of key functional skills and acute problem behavior ensures that the participant’s caregivers can maintain progress through caregiver training, then ABA supports are faded out.

Treatment addresses a wide range of skill deficits across multiple affected developmental domains, such as cognitive, communication, social, emotional, and adaptive functioning. Maladaptive behaviors, such as noncompliance, tantrums, and stereotype, are also typically addressed through treatment. Comprehensive ABA treatment is typically provided for more weekly hours (approximately 30-40 hours per week).

Getting Started! Enrollment  Identify Funding Assessment Funder Approval Caregiver Approval

teammain

Bright Niños will meet with the prospective client’s caregiver to complete an intake assessment that is required prior to beginning services. The information requested is required in order to secure prior authorization for funding to start a participant’s assessment and services.

Bright Niños works with a variety of funding sources. After your insurance verification form is received, Bright Niños completes a benefits verification to determine if ABA services are covered by your funder. Additional benefits verifications will be completed throughout the course services to ensure that services will continue to be funded.
If there are any changes to insurance or Medicaid plans throughout services, parents/guardians must provide updated insurance or Medicaid information as soon as possible.

All ABA services start with an assessment to identify treatment objectives and develop your participant’s treatment plan. Parents/guardians may be asked to assist in gathering some information or data during the assessment process. If ABA services focus on increasing a participant’s skills, the assessment will evaluate the participant’s current performance on these skills and determine which instructional strategies and interventions are most likely to prove effective. If ABA services focus on decreasing ongoing problem behaviors, a functional assessment and/or functional analysis activities (e.g., interviews, checklists, direct observations) will be conducted. These assessment tools are designed to provide information critical to developing effective treatment procedures. A combination of assessment strategies may be used, depending on your participant’s needs.

After completing the assessment, a treatment plan will be developed and submitted to funders for approval. It may take 30-45 business days to receive service authorization.

Before starting services, the treatment plan will be reviewed with the caregiver(s). Caregiver(s) will be asked to provide a signature indicating that they consent to the treatment described in the plan.

Bright Niños uses principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to develop research-based strategies to address challenging behaviors or learning deficits and enhance our participant's lives by not only working with the client, but working with their caregiver(s) to enhance the outcomes of the services provided
